Here's a story from my Everest summit day. After about 10 odd hours of climbing through the night we reached South summit at 7.30 in the morning. Now once you reach South summit, the route ahead is a sharp drop to the right almost as if into the abyss. The climber in front of me started walking and within next few seconds he took a U-turn and came right back to us. And Mingma asked - What happened? The climber refused to go further. He mentioned - I can't do this - this doesn't seem the right way - there seems no way! Here we are on south summit where there's hardly any breathing room and this happens. Next up Mingma, myself and this climbers Sherpa - all 3 of us took off and disappeared into the drop. Once we climbed down there was a tricky traverse around a big rock and we finally reached an area where there was a small platform for people to rest and change oxygen bottles. This is also where I ran into the Indian army team that had reached the summit and now were on their way down. The climber who we had left behind had no option but to follow suit and eventually made his way to this resting area with the help of his Sherpa who went to get him! I have to say - at first even I was super terrified to climb down into this drop, but you have to confront these moments head-on! As soon as I took first couple of steps I was on my way. The trickiest part for time being was behind me!Whoever said climbing Everest was easy! walk in the park! Every-time I remember this instance I chuckle! A su fin, a las 21, llegará el turno de “Perdidos en el Everest”, que investiga uno de los misterios más desconcertantes de la exploración: ¿Qué les sucedió a los grandes exploradores Andrew “Sandy” Irvine y George Leigh Mallory, desparecidos el 8 de junio de 1924 cuando intentaban llegar por primera vez a la cima?
Las pistas para resolver el misterio se encuentran congeladas en alguna parte de la cumbre de la montaña más alta del mundo.
Dirigido por el escalador y aventurero Mark Synnott, junto con el fotógrafo, escalador y montañista de National Geographic Renan Ozturk, el especial sigue a los exploradores mientras se disponen a encontrar el cuerpo de Irvine, resolver su misteriosa desaparición y determinar de manera concluyente quién fue el que conquistó la montaña más alta del mundo, una hazaña que reescribiría la historia del montañismo.

Aunque el objetivo principal era ubicar el cuerpo y la cámara de Irvine –el cadáver de Mallory fue hallado en 1999– los integrantes de la expedición se encontraron también, sin quererlo, luchando por su vida y debieron enfrentar grandes obstáculos.
